Knit Kit Review by BrennaAnnHandmade: Wool And The Gang: "Zigazig Shopper" DIY Tote Bag

Hi everybody! Happy Monday! I'm so excited to share with you the newest DIY knitting kit I was so kindly gifted & just completed - the ZigaZig Shopper from Wool And The Gang! πŸ˜„

Included in this fun kit has everything needed to create this oversized knit tote bag:

- 2 cones of WATG's Jersey Be Good (a super chunky & soft t-shirt yarn - I picked this lovely blue color)

- 1 Zigazig Shopper pattern

- 1 pair of 15mm (19US)  knitting needles

- 1 sewing (tapestry) needle

As put by Wool And The Gang, "When what you want is a bag that can go from the market to your office to an evening out this bag is perfect. With enough room to hold a laptop, wallet and phone there is nowhere this bag cannot go."

This DIY is an easy level pattern, & works up quickly due to the chunky yarn + large size knitting needles used - a perfect beginner knitter project, or relaxing, yet fast project for the advanced knitter! πŸ˜‰

Would 10/10 recommend this kit to anyone who'd like to try! 😊

Have YOU ever tried this or any of Wool And The Gang's other DIY kits before? If so, let me know which ones in the comments below - I'd love to know what you've knitted or crocheted! 😊

Happy making everybody!

The Crafter's Box Kit Review: Shibori Indigo Dyeing Workshop

Hi everybody! Happy Wednesday! πŸ˜€ Today I'm super excited to share this review of The Crafter's Box "Shibori Indigo Dyeing Workshop" with you all! Let's get started!

This review was provided by one of my sweet friends, who completed + wrote up her opinion on this kit for you all! 😊

SO many fun goodies are inside this Crafter's Box workshop kit:

  • Mineral compounds and reduced plant dye for a 2 gallon indigo vat
  • Bind and resist tools for different shibori techniques (including clamps, cut acrylic shapes, and rubber bands)
  • An in-depth shibori booklet illustrating various types of patterns and how to achieve them
  • Six cotton cloth napkins
  • Protective gloves
  • A detailed, digital workshop

Here's my sweet friends review (written in her own words) for you all! 😊

"Hello!

This was a really fun (albeit messy) project. When I was younger I would use the Rit powdered dyes and "renew" my worn-looking clothes. It was such fun to watch the magic happen (the magic being the dye changing the already-colored fabric to a different color) πŸ˜‚  this project was a fun reminder and sparked my interest again in dying clothing.

The video was well done but I would suggest that anyone who has never worked with this dye method before (like myself), to pay attention to both the instructions the maker speaks AND the written instructions that are posted on the screen, as some things are not verbalized.

The bloom was gorgeous! The picture does not do it justice.

If memory serves, it was recommended to do a minimum of 5 dips. Since I was outside in the sun during the hottest part of the day, and I didn't plan well to take off work the whole day, I stopped after 3 dips - plus, I was satisfied with the results.

Once it was time to wash them, the dye did bleed quite a bit after introducing the detergent, and so faded the fabric some. I'm still happy with how they turned out and I would probably do this type of dying again. I had so much fun with my friend Brenna Ann while we folded and wrapped the napkins all differently, to see what sort of pattern we'd yield.

I highly encourage you give this kit a try and if you can do this experience with friends, even better!"

Check out how lovely her 1ST "Shibori Indigo Dyeing" project turned out below! I think they turned out beautiful!

The Crafter's Box Kit Review: Hand-Poured Cement Workshop

Hi everybody! Happy Thursday! πŸ˜€ Today I'm super excited to share this review of The Crafter's Box "Hand-Poured Cement Workshop" with you all! Let's get started!

This review was provided by one of my sweet friends, who completed + wrote up her opinion on this kit for you all! 😊

Details: The Crafter's Box Hand-Poured Cement Workshop

SO many fun goodies are inside this Crafter's Box workshop kit:

  • Custom silicone mold with drainage hole (to use again and again)
  • Plastic molds
  • Clear plastic cup for mixing
  • 2 pounds of cement
  • Charcoal cement pigment
  • Stir sticks
  • Plastic sheeting to protect your workspace
  • Gloves
  • Sandpaper
  • A detailed, digital workshop

Here's my sweet friends review (written in her own words) for you all! 😊

"This was a great new experience, though the results weren't as planned. I was trying for the marbled effect, but the charcoal coloring somehow settled to the bottom. I'm sure I did something wrong, but I don't know what it was. πŸ€·‍♀️

Also, apparently there was a bit of dry cement that didn't get mixed in, evidenced by the additional hole in the tiny pot. As the cement was curing, I attempted to brush away what I thought was a fairly-thick layer of dust (don't ask) and it crumbled away, leaving a hole.  Not ideal but just chalked it up to being extra drainage. I didn't think I had missed getting it all mixed together well but again, I must have.

The bigger pot doesn't have a hole drilled in the bottom as I don't have a drill. So instead of using it for live plants, I thought it could be used for decorative, plastic succulents or flowers; substituting in glass stones for dirt.

Overall, this was a really fun project and the video instructions were very well done! I'm really happy for the opportunity to try this makers box!

Thank you BrennaAnn πŸ˜Š"
